I’m trying to create a link to a table in an MS SQL database but I cannot see the preview in the Database Manager. No matter what table I choose, no columns are shown. Is there a workaround?

Click on the “Select Database” button and then click on the “Connection Editor”.

Make sure you filled in the MetaDefCatalog, MetaDefSchema, MetaCurCatalog and MetaCurSchema fields in the Connection Editor.

MetaDefCatalog and MetaCurCatalog are the same as Database and MetaDefSchema and MetaCurSchema are usually dbo.
